Sara Taylor - Assistant Tripping Director
Kia Ora, My name is Sara Taylor and I am one of a handful of International Staff at Wavus this year. I'm from New Zealand and I will be joining you all for my second year at Wavus. I love being outdoors and enjoy hiking, kayaking, swimming, mountain biking and climbing. If you can't find me doing one of these activities you will probably find me helping out at the ropes course or in the tripping shed assisting Lindsay. I'm looking forward to meeting you all.....its going to be a great summer!!!

Holli Mellick - Adventure Course Director
Holli joined Kieve-Wavus in August 2005 as a PRO at the Leadership School. She is now a teacher there, and returning for a third summer at Wavus as the Adventure Course Director. She hails from Washington State and graduated from Eastern Washington University with a B.A. in Recreation Management and a minor in Business Administration. In her free time, she enjoys; climbing, kayaking, being with family and friends, traveling and anything outdoors. She also owns a hamster named Pepper, whom she loves dearly.

Marae Lindsey - Adventure Course Assistant
This is my first summer at Wavus and my first visit to the beautiful state of Maine. I go to school in Utah, my home is in Idaho, and I spent most of my childhood in Alaska. I come from an enormous and entirely wonderful family, including nine siblings and 26 nieces and nephews. My favorite things are: being outside, making music, eating fruit, reading, endurance shopping, planning adventures with my sister, and having fun with my family and friends. And, of course, camp at Wavus!

Kara Fagan - Adventure Course Assistant
This will be my second summer on the Adventure course at Wavus. I graduated from Colby College in 2006 where I double majored in English and American Studies. I was also a catcher and outfielder on the softball team and a captain my senior year. This past year I was a teacher, 2-sport coach and resident at an all-girls boarding school in Western Massachusetts. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and learning from the diverse group of campers and staff.

Tegan Mortimer - Archery Instructor
This is going to be my second summer at Wavus and I'm very excited to be working as the Archery Instructor. I was a camper at Kieve's Science Camp and Wilderness Expeditions for four years. This fall I will be a third year at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where I study Environmental Biology and Geography. I love to be out on the water: sailing, canoeing and kayaking.

Melissa Hunnnibell - Art Director
A fourth generation artist born in Providence, RI, Melissa now lives near Wavus where her great-grandmother ran a dance hall. Her arts background and education from Rhode Island School of Design influence her life daily, as do her growing love and respect for Maine's natural environment. She is energized by the colors and sounds of summer, and the camping and water activities that go with it. When not at Wavus, she could be gardening, hosting creative workshops, performing with a Cuban band, helping her partner make improvements on their home studio, or visiting family. She is honored to have been invited to turn Wavus girls on to arts of all kinds this summer, and is looking forward to making many friends.

Malley Weber - Pottery Instructor
This coming fall I will be in Graduate School at Goddard College for my Master of Fine Arts. This is my third year at Wavus as the Pottery Instructor and I love working with the budding artists. I teach pottery at my own studio in Hallowell, ME and sell my work at Hallowellclayworks.com and at various galleries in New England. In my spare time I enjoy playing with kids, dogs and clay.

Jill Martins - Pottery Instructor
Hey all! This will be my first year at Wavus and I'm very excited to be involved in pottery. I live very close to Hallowell Clayworks and learned all I know from Malley. Next fall I'll be a Junior at the University of Southern Maine in the music education program. Music is my passion, so I'm looking forward to maybe finding a few others with the same passion this summer. Can't wait to meet you all!

 

Liz Downs - Pottery Instructor
I graduated from the University of Southern Maine, (during the stone age) with a Bachelor's of Fine Art degree. I have been teaching reading, writing and math to grades K thru 3, for about 8 years. I live here in central Maine with my husband, soon to be sixteen year old daughter (she is learning to drive!), 3 cats, 4 ducks, 2 goldfish, and 1 dancing, singing little dog. I have a (very) small pottery business and I have been part of the Central Maine Ceramic Artists for about 3 years. This is my second year at Wavus teaching pottery.

Polly Massaro - Sailing Instructor
Polly will be spending her first summer with Wavus, as a sailing instructor. This coming fall she will be a junior at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, majoring in both German and Speech Pathology and Audiology (SPA). Originally from New Jersey, she spends the majority of her time sailing and traveling. She enjoys lacrosse, hiking, swimming, and volunteering. She looks forward to seeing you soon and having a great time sailing this summer!

Heather Lersch - Waterfront Director
We are pleased to welcome Heather back for her second season as our Waterfront Director. A graduate of Colby College, Heather was a teacher at the Leadership School for a year gaining experience working with children using the experiential education model. When not on the waterfront, she enjoys writing, listening to music and dancing.

Paula Stratton - Waterfront Assistant
Hi! My name is Paula Stratton, and my first experience at Camp Kieve was Family Camp, 2002. Three years ago I was introduced to Wavus and taken with its beauty and mission. Currently, I teach at Thoreau Middle School in Vienna, Virginia where I am the Health and Fitness Specialist. I enjoy many different sports, sunshine, traveling, gardening, cooking, and spending time with my husband, children, and family pets Dusty and Patches. I am very excited to be spending part of my summer at Wavus, and I can’t wait to meet all of you!

Sara Komorowski - Camper Connection
Sara is thrilled to be working at such a cool place this summer! She is a junior at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, ME. Aside from being active in band and drama, she loves to play all sorts of outdoor competitive sports. Sara loves to use PhotoShop and listen to music in her spare time. This is her first summer at Wavus, and she hopes to bring her excitement and experience to help make Wavus a fun time for all who attend.

Meaghan Lyndaker - Camper Connection
My name’s Meaghan Lyndaker, and I’ve been working at Wavus for the past two summers. I’m currenty a sophomore at Lincoln Academy, and really enjoy math and science there. When I’m not at school I really enjoy hanging out with my friends and practicing graphic design. I’m so excited for this summer and meeting all the new campers, as well as welcoming back those that are returning!

Leah Agren
Hey! My name is Leah Agren. I am from Embden, Maine and a senior Social Work major at the University of Maine at Orono. I love travel, adventure and having fun! I spend my winters at Sugarloaf as a ski instructor for 8-14 year olds. In the summer, I enjoy being outside doing things like rafting, skydiving and kayaking. I'm looking forward to my second summer at Wavus!

Lizzy Bates
Hi! My name is Lizzy Bates and I can't wait for this summer! This will be my first summer at Wavus. I just finished my freshman year at Harvard, where I row on the crew team. I love being and playing outside, camping, hiking, biking, and running. I'm very excited to meet you and have a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to a great summer.

Liz Bendzunas
Hello! I just finished my first year at Dean College in Franklin, MA and in the fall I will be returning for my sophomore year. I am majoring in Early Childhood Psychology. This will be my first summer with Kieve-Wavus. I am looking forward to meeting all of you at Wavus and spending lots of time down by the waterfront!

Isa Berglund
Greetings fron Sweden. This fall I will be attending the Ecole Francais in Stockholm, Sweden and majoring in French. This is my first summer at Wavus and I am enjoying working with the campers. In my free time I enjoy tennis and sailing.

Hannah Bernes
I am from Hordvik, Norway and this is my first year at Wavus. I have just finished Kieve West and hiking in the Colorado Rockies was awe inspiring. I am looking forward to working at Wavus and putting my wilderness skills to use.

Christy Bradley
This will be my first summer at Kieve-Wavus. This fall I will be a sophomore at Trinity College, where I play both Field Hockey and Lacrosse. I went to summer camp on a lake in New Hampshire for seven years, so I'm excited to be working back at a camp. I'm looking forward to a great summer at Kieve and Wavus!

Robin Buntin
I live in Wenham, MA and will be a sophomore in the fall at Dean College in Franklin MA where I am majoring in Communications. I enjoy being outdoors in all seasons winter, spring, summer and fall. This will be my first summer at Wavus and I am very excited to share my knowledge and leadership with the diverse group of campers. I also own a bird named Kit whom I will miss during the summer at camp. I look forward to meeting all of you this summer. See you there!

Kacey Caudle
Hey! My name is Kacey and this will be my first summer at Wavus. I am from South Carolina and a rising junior at Clemson University. I am majoring in Marketing and Travel & Tourism. I enjoy reading, cooking and spending time outdoors. I spend lots of time at the beach, boating and fishing. I am so excited about camp and I can’t wait to meet the Wavus girls of 2008.

Samantha Clews
I have completed a Bachelor of Business, in New Zealand, at Massey University with a major in Enterprise Development. This is my first summer at Wavus though I've been an outdoor recreation instructor for four years. I am really looking forward to going on my trip in Maine. I enjoy traveling, learning, surfing, snow boarding and playing my guitar.

Issie Comstock
I have just completed my freshman year at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and have yet to decide my major. I live in Essex, Connecticut and have always had a love for music and theater but also love swimming and hiking. I decided to come to Wavus because a cousin of mine, Lucy Grogan, has worked at Kieve and loves it and I used to be a camper in New Hampshire and very much enjoy the outdoors and being active.

Alexa Comstock
This coming fall I will be a sophomore at Hobart and William Smith with a major in Art History and Religious Studies. This is my first summer at Wavus and my first as a counselor. I am really looking forward to working with the campers. When not at class I enjoy spending time playing squash, skiing, and doing homework (believe it or not). See you all soon!

Eliza Cress
I live in Longmeadow, MA and will be a senior at Longmeadow High School next fall. I play Ultimate Frisbee, run track and love to be outside! I look forward to meeting all of you this summer!

Malory Ferguson
This will be my second summer at Wavus and I am extremely excited about it. I am a student at the University of North Alabama, majoring in Exercise Science. I plan to pursue an advanced degree in Physical Therapy, and eventually work with disabled children as a Physical Therapist. I am a vegetarian and enjoy animals and children.

Cara FitzGibbon
Hi! This is my first time working for Wavus. I'm from the Boston area, and I graduated from Rhode Island School of Design last year, where I majored in illustration. I love to be outdoors and to run, bike, hike, and camp. I've been working as a computer animator for the past year, and I can't wait to get away from my desk and breathe some if that fresh Maine air...aaaah.

Carly Grimm
I am from South Salem, New York and this will be my first summer at Wavus and Kieve. I just finished my freshman year at Sewanee: The University of the South, in Tennessee. I play field hockey and lacrosse for Sewanee. I also enjoy swimming and hiking. I'm really excited meeting everyone and spending the summer in Maine.

Melissa Haynes
My name is Melissa Haynes, and this will be my first summer at Kieve-Wavus. I am from Wellesley MA, and this fall I will be a Sophomore at Gettysburg College. I love to play lacrosse, swim, and hike, and I am looking forward to an amazing summer!

Kate Hoblitzell
This will be my first year involved with Kieve-Wavus. This coming fall I will be a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania and focusing my studies on Fine Arts and International Relations. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and helping out with activities like arts and crafts and pottery. I also love hiking, biking, and spending time outdoors. Can't wait to see you this summer!

Annie Hopkins
This will be my first summer as a Kieve- Wavus counselor. In the fall I will be a freshman at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. I love to run, swim, sing and be outdoors. Ever since my trip on "Kieve West" three years ago, I have wanted to come back and share my love for the outdoors. I am excited about this summer and look forward to meeting you. See you soon!

Sarah Janiszewski
Hey! I currently attend Westerly High School. This will be my first summer at Wavus, but I was a camper the summer before last and I have also attended Kieve West! I enjoy reading and art. I love the outdoors and most sports. I run, swim and sail for my school. I'm excited to spend time outside and meet everyone!

Laura Karabell
Hey all! My name is Laura and I'm from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This fall I will be a junior at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. I'm majoring in Spanish and minoring in Education. I sing in the college choir, perform in the dance performances, and help to teach in classrooms in the Lewiston/Auburn area. I love to play tennis, dance (modern, especially, but I enjoy all kinds), explore (especially on foot--walking, running, skipping, etc), draw, paint, and do crafts. This is my first summer at Wavus and I'm so excited to meet all of you.

Amanda Leonard
Hi my name is Amanda Leonard and this will be my first summer as a counselor at Wavus! I am from Hanson, Massachusetts and will be a Junior in the fall at Providence College with a major in Psychology with a Business Studies Certificate. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, but I also enjoy playing soccer and doing arts and crafts! Can't wait to meet everyone, see you soon!!

Emily Lesinski
Hello everyone! I’m Emily Lesinski, although I also go by Em. This is my first year with Wavus and I’m extremely excited about the upcoming summer. I’ve always enjoyed being on the water and have participated in many sports and activities most notably rowing. In the fall I will be a sophomore at Carnegie Mellon University where I am actively involved in both the crew team and a cappella choir. My family vacations on Damariscotta Lake and I look forward to exploring my interests, such as music and photography, while at Wavus this summer!

Madde Lindahl
Hi everyone! My name is Madeleine Lindahl (nic-name: Madde) and I come from Sweden. This is my first time as a camp counselor so I'm really excited! My main interest is swimming but I'm looking forward to learn all other things, that this summer will offer! See you soon!

Elise Lindsey
I am about to graduate from BYU-Idaho with a major in Recreation Management. My hobbies and interests include, but are not limited to: backpacking, tennis, adventures, running, cooking, dress-up, thinking, shopping, family, friends, attempting new instruments, crafts, experiments, sewing, and exploring. In my leisure time I love spending time with my friends, family, nature, and making the most out of life! I'm looking forward to the best summer of our lives!

Tine Lorentzen
I am from Bergen, Norway and am excited to be working at Wavus this summer. I have heard many things about Kieve and Wavus from friends and have completed Kieve West. I am enjoying spending my time in Colorado and Maine this summer.

Mary Anna Lynch
My name is Mary Anna Lynch and I am from South Carolina, where I just finished my freshman year at Clemson University. I love the outdoors, being on the lake, playing field hockey, and spending time with my friends. I have spent a couple of years backpacking and climbing in the Pacific Northwest with Moondance Adventures. I am so excited about my second summer at Wavus and meeting everyone!

Emily Maclary
Hi! This is my first year with Kieve-Wavus. This coming fall I will be a junior at Williams College in Massachusetts, where I am studying Biology. When I’m not in class, I’m usually cooking, playing rugby, or practicing piano. This is my first summer as a counselor, and I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone and having fun outside!

Erin Malafronte
My name is Erin Malefonte. This coming fall I will be a sophomore at Saint Joseph's University with a major in marketing. This is my first summer at Kieve and I am really looking forward to working with the campers. When not at class I enjoy spending time in the outdoors and being active. See you all soon!

Megan McFarland
Hi! My name is Megan McFarland, and this will be my second summer as a counselor for Kieve/Wavus. I will spend the first session at Kieve, and then I will head over to Wavus for the second part of the summer. This fall I will be a sophomore at Bowdoin College. I play on the Bowdoin Women's Lacrosse team, and I plan to major in History with minors in Spanish and Education. I am really excited for this summer-- it's going to be a great one!

Belinda McGehee
Hi, my name is Belinda and this will be my fourth summer as a counselor with Kieve-Wavus. This coming fall I will be a junior at Providence College in Rhode Island. Some of my favorite summer activities include swimming and soccer. I’m so excited for this summer and cannot wait!

Asia Murillo
I recently graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a B.A. in Communication. This will be my first year at Wavus and I just can't wait for the summer to begin! In my spare time you might find me spelunking or searching for buried treasure with my two dogs. I love being surrounded with my family and friends and feel most at home when a white sandy beach is in sight. I am super excited for an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G summer at Wavus!

Shell Noiles
Shell is a recent graduate of the University of Maine, with a B.S. in Secondary Education. Shell is looking forward to starting her career as an English teacher. This will be her first year joining Wavus Camp for Girls, and she can't wait to get started! Growing up in Pittsfield, Maine, Shell enjoys hiking through the woods of Maine or being with friends and family.

Jen Norton
My name is Jenifer Norton and this is my first year as a counselor at Wavus. This coming fall I will be a junior at Ursinus College in Pennsylvania majoring in Psychology. I love playing basketball and soccer, but my favorite thing to do is run. I can't wait to start my summer at Wavus!

Mercy Opoku
Well, my name is Mercy Opoku and I am a councelor from Ghana. I am 20 years old and a second year student of the university of Ghana,Legon. I offer music, drama and dance. I come from Mampong Nsuta in the Ashanti Region. I love working with kids and I spend most of my time teaching kids so I really want to be at camp to share my wonderful culture with them. I would love to tell them stories,teach them games played in Africa and also teach them how to play some of our local instruments.

Tamara-Jo Parker
Hi, my name is Tamra-Jo Parker and this is my first year with Wavus. This coming fall I will be a sophomore at the University of Maine at Farmington, were I am majoring in Secondary Education with a concentration on Social Sciences. I love music, soccer, and art. I look forward to meeting the campers and having a great time! See you out there!

Ellen Perkins
Hi! My name is Ellen Perkins and I will be a sophomore at Wheaton College this fall! This is my first summer at Wavus and I am super excited. I can't wait to go for walks, to get out on the water, and just hang out outside! I look forward to meeting you!

Tracy Reick
This will be my first summer at Wavus and I’m looking forward to it very much. I’m anticipating all of the new experiences to be encountered! I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA (Go Steelers!) but I’m currently living right outside the Washington, DC area working as a wood shop teacher in Fairfax, VA. I love the outdoors, camping, fishing, biking, being on the water, and any athletic activity. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone this summer and having a great time!”

Sewell Robinson
Hello, my name is Sewell Robinson and I am from Stonington, CT. I will be an incoming freshman at Kenyon College in Gambier, OH and I'm not sure of my prospective major. I enjoy hiking, camping, the outdoors, sports, music, and I love working with children. I am very excited for my summer ahead and I can't wait to meet everyone.

Alyssa Rose
Hi! My name is Alyssa Rose and I'm from Rochester, NY. I'll be a sophomore at Bowdoin College next year and plan on majoring in Government with a minor in Spanish. This is my first year as a counselor at Wavus. I love tennis and played all through high school. I also play the violin, love the outdoors and love kids. I look forward to this summer!

Ellie Shepley
This is my first summer as a counselor at Wavus. I recently graduated from Phillips Academy, Andover, and this coming fall I will be a freshman at Kenyon College in Ohio. Three years ago I went on "KieveWest," a summer backpacking trip to Colorado, and have wanted to come back to Kieve-Wavus ever since! I can't wait to hike, play tennis, sing and do drama with many of you this summer. See you soon!

Mya Steadman
My name is Mya Steadman and I’m going to be a junior at Mount Holyoke College in the fall. I was a counselor for Kieve Boys' camp last year and am very excited to be at Wavus this summer. I love being outside and running around. Some of my favorite things to do are play Frisbee, football, and go sailing. Can’t wait to meet you all, we’re going to have a great summer.

Laura Stewart
Hi, This will be my first summer at Wavus. I have a degree in Music and in September I will be returning to University to get my teaching qualification. In my free time I teach choirs, DJ a radio show, play piano and see my friends. I am looking forward to meeting everyone this summer and having lots of fun at camp!

Alina Swidas
Hi my name Alina Swiadas and I am from New Hampshire. I am a rising junior at Providence College where I am an Elementary Education major and a Spanish minor. I am excited about spending my first summer at Wavus and I can’t wait to see you all there!

 

Anna Titcomb
Originally from Georgetown, ME, I have been living in glorious Montreal for the past four years, where I graduated from McGill University with a degree in Archaeology and Latin, making me completely unemployable. After a winter with far too many -25 days, I'm looking forward to sunbathing on the docks, canoeing adventures and super secret pizza parties during my fourth summer at Wavus.

Jaime Williamson
I am a native of Camden, ME and attend Wheelock College in Boston, MA. This is my first summer at Wavus and I am really excited to be working with the girls.

Fluff Wyman
My name is Ashley Wyman, but you can call me Fluff. I am from South China, Maine. I am going to be a sophomore at the University of Maine-Farmington majoring in Elementary Education. I love to play field hockey, taking pictures, kayaking with friends, or hanging around the house with my dogs. I'm looking forward to my first year at Wavus--bring on the fun!!!
