Veterans' Camp
This is a chance for veterans and their families to kick back and enjoy fun outdoor and creative in a beautiful and peaceful setting on Damariscotta Lake, Maine.
Kieve-Wavus Education, in Nobleboro, Maine is sponsoring several free getaways for Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans, E8 and below (non-officers) and their significant others. This is a great opportunity, at no cost to veterans or their families, to enjoy the beautiful outdoors through fun winter activities—ice fishing, snow shoeing and sledding. Other activities include rock climbing on our state-of-the-art indoor climbing wall, wood whittling, pottery, yoga, accupuncture, massage, hot tubing and evening entertainment. The object of the program is to engage service members and their significant others in challenging and fun activities that build rapport, camaraderie and support resiliency, health and well being. Veterans and their guests will stay at The Kennedy Learning Center—a gorgeous lodge on the shores of Damariscotta Lake. Kieve has developed this opportunity for veterans in consultation with the military and its colleagues. This program is endorsed by Matt Flavin, President Obama’s advisor on veterans’ affairs.
Kieve is a non-profit founded in 1926 and is sponsoring this amazing opportunity for veterans at no cost to them thanks to generous donations made by individuals who are deeply appreciative of our veterans.
Our first incredible week just ended with fun had by all. Our next week program is currently booked but stay tuned, we can make other opportunities happen. Those interested in attending a long weekend later this winter or spring should contact Kieve’s Veterans’ Department at 207.563.5172 Ext. 27 or by
