Henry R. Kennedy - Executive Director
Henry Kennedy has served as Kieve’s Executive Director since 1991 and is the third generation of his family at the helm. Henry graduated from Colby College in 1980 then worked as a Certified Public Accountant in California and Portland, Maine. His non-profit experience includes 2 terms elected to the Cumberland, Maine school board, member of the Colby College Board of Overseers, appointment to the Great Ponds Taskforce by Governor King, past president of the Maine Youth Camping Association, past member of Allagash Wilderness Waterway advisory committee, founding board member of the Family Ice Center in Falmouth, Maine, member of Governor Baldacci’s Equity in Education taskforce, and member of Maine Huts and Trails board. He was a Kieve camper from 1967 through 1972 and a counselor from 1973-1980. He lives in Cumberland and Nobleboro, Maine with his wife, B.J., and their 2 children, Sam and Blair.

Charlie Richardson - Director of Education and Operations
Charlie has been an integral member of the Kieve-Wavus family since 1983, first as an intern in Kieve’s Leadership School program then as a counselor, and ultimately as C0-Director of the Boys’ Camp. He currently is involved in helping to provide the best educational experience for each and every person and group that comes to our incredible campuses. In the community Charlie has been a board member at the Central Lincoln County YMCA and board member and chairman of the Nobleboro, Maine School board. His teaching and administrative experience have taken place in the Hull Public School in Massachusetts, the Linsly School in Wheeling, WV, and McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD. He now resides year round at Kieve with his wife Annie and their two children Laurie Beth and C.J.

Russ Williams - Development & Communications Director
Russ has been in and around Kieve for many years. His children have participated in Kiddy Camp, Boys Camp, LDI, Science Camp and Kieve West. Russ oversees all the development and marketing for Kieve-Wavus. Russ brings his talents from working in various marketing based ventures throughout his career. He is also the 9/11 Family Camp Director. He lives at the top of the Alewives Ladder in Damariscotta Mills.

John Schlosser - Business Manager
John joined Kieve-Wavus Education Inc. in late 2011 as Business Manager. He has 28 years experience in financial, administration and operations positions in various service businesses, including 6 years as Vice President and Controller. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Scranton. John serves as a member on the Rome planning board. He also serves as Road Commissioner on his local road association and has served as Director, Vice President, and President for the association. John and his wife Wendy live in Rome, Maine (not Italy or New York), with their 3 children, Sara, Kerry and Robert.

Nancy J. Kennedy, Ph.D. - Director, Wavus Camp for Girls
Nancy joined Kieve-Wavus Education Inc. early in 2010 as volunteer Chaplain for Kieve’s Veterans' Program. Quickly recognizing that she would make an excellent full time employee here, we hired Nancy as the program's co-director and as Assistant Director at Wavus. Nancy's love of children, the outdoors, learning, engaging personality and exceptional leadership skills combine to make her a natural fit here. Nancy, who grew up in the camping world in New Hampshire, holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies from the University of New Hampshire, a Master of Divinity from Bangor Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies, graduating with honors from the University of Maine. Nancy taught Environmental Studies at Randolph Macon Women’s College and Lynchburg College before returning to Maine in 2007. She is a resident of Newcastle where she lives with her son, Nicholas, and several furry friends.

Sara Taylor - Assistant Director and Wilderness Tripping Director
Sara is from New Zealand and arrived at Wavus as a wilderness trips leader in 2007. She loves being outdoors and enjoys hiking, kayaking, swimming, climbing, working with children of all ages, and being a positive role model for them. Sara is an active person with lots of energy and is extremely well organized – an imperative skill in dealing with all of the details of running a successful wilderness trip camp. She gives everything a go and enjoys a hands-on approach to learning and teaching new skills and ideas.
Sara graduated in from The University of Waikato in 2004 with a Bachelor of Management Studies majoring in Human Resource Management and Management Information Systems. Sara holds a Wilderness First Responder Certificate and divides her time between living in Maine and New Zealand. In New Zealand Sara works as a Caving (Spelunking) Guide at Waitomo Caves, a major tourist attraction on the West Coast of the North Island.

Joe Tatem - Veterans Program
Joe Tatem came to the Kieve-Wavus family as a volunteer in the Veterans Camp during its pilot year. A veteran himself, Joe has served in the Active Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard. He currently holds the rank of Master Sergeant and is a graduate of every phase of the Army’s Non-Commissioned Officer Education System, including The United States Army Sergeants Major Academy at FT Bliss, TX. Additionally, Joe has graduated from the Army’s Ranger, Airborne, Air Assault, Mountain Warfare, and Protective Services training courses and proudly wears the Expert Infantry Badge. Most recently, he deployed in 2008 to Iraq and worked closely with The United States Embassy in Baghdad and throughout the Iraqi Theater of Operations. He brought his unique skills to the Wavus campus in the summer of 2010 as our rifle marksmanship instructor and now, with his 25+ years of military experience, provides invaluable insight into how the Veterans' Camp at Kieve can best serve OEF/OIF/OND veterans as they continue to bond with their loved ones and friends during our week-long programs. We are pleased to welcome Joe as a member of the Kieve Veterans' Family Camp as we give thanks to those who have given so much to us through their service.

Betsy Lee - Development Assistant
Betsy joined us after six years as the Administrative Assistant for The Wavus Foundation. She brings a wealth of experience in the areas of development, accounting and event planning. In addition to her Development duties, Betsy manages the Camp Store on both campuses and provides administrative support for the Family Camps. Betsy is a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono with a degree in Animal Medical Sciences. When not in the office you can find her teaching gymnastics at the YMCA or relaxing in her garden. Betsy lives in Newcastle with her two daughters, Anna-Marie and Laura.

Summer Hallowell - Office Manager
Summer is graduate of Thomas College in Waterville, Maine. She graduated with a degree in Business Management. She joined the Kieve Staff full-time in May of 2002, after working part-time for the preceding three years. She works closely with Pat Lydon - Business Manager, as Office Manager and Accountant. Summer works four days a week at Kieve allowing her to spent extra time with her first child Carson.
Summer LOVES being a Mom and in her spare time, enjoys taking pictures, scrap-booking and camping. She and her husband, Brent, live in Damariscotta, with their first child Carson.

Lisa Steele-Maley - Leadership School Administrator
Started at the Leadership School: February 2010
Lisa Steele-Maley came to the Leadership School at Kieve in 2010 after almost 20 years working both directly with young people on trails and in classrooms and also in a number of administrative roles in experiential education programs of the Midwest and Pacific Northwest. As Administrator at the Leadership School, Lisa is the first point of contact for schools and groups interested in bringing their students to participate in our dynamic program. She enjoys working with administrators, teachers and parents to help them identify how the dynamic program and exceptional staff at the Leadership School can support their students and school communities. Lisa lives in an old farmhouse in Edgecomb, ME with her husband, two sons and an assortment of animals.

Mike Hampton - Program Director
Started with the Leadership School: August 2010
Mike has served in many educational and leadership roles for summer camps and experiential programs. Growing up with a large family in the backwoods of upstate New York, he has a unique perspective and appreciation of the outdoors and lifestyles in general. Mike has many interests, enjoys all manner of games and sport, plays multiple instruments, and is a competitive endurance athlete. Mike is always learning from experiences, colleagues, and students, and currently, he is pursuing a Masters in Organizational Leadership as well.

Reid Anderson - Assistant Director of Education and Operations
Started at Leadership School: August 2010
Originally from Philadelphia, Reid was a Kieve camper for five years,a counselor for 5 years, and has been the Kieve Assistant Director for Tripping since 2003. Reid taught Computer Science and Robotics for seven years at the Pomfret School in Pomfret, CT. He now resides with his wife, Jess Anderson, in Dresden, Me.

Rob Reilly - Director Challenge Course & Facilitation
Rob is a native if Manchester, England where he started rock climbing at the age of 13. He moved to the US in 1993 and has been working in the field of outdoor education for over 15 years with groups ranging from corporate managers to adjudicated youth. Rob joined the Kieve-Wavus team in the spring of 2010 as a Leadership School teacher and Challenge Course Manager. He lives in Hope, ME with his wife of 20 years, Sarah, and their three children.

Carolyn Griffiths - KW West Trip Leader & Program Coordinator
Carolyn "Griff" Griffiths is currently a teacher at the Leadership School at Kieve and has been involved in the organization since arriving in the fall of 2010. This past summer she led the first ever Wavus Maine Trails trip, guiding girls around Penobscot Bay in Kayaks and hiking the last one hundred miles of the Appalachian Trail. Other past trips of hers have included back country hiking in the Wind River Range of Wyoming, rock climbing epxeditions in Kentucky and Nevada and numerous trips in the White Mountains of New England. She enjoys working with students from Maine during the Leadership School season and spends her weekends climbing locally, running, and planning for future adventures.

Diane Impallomeni - Head of Food Service and Hospitality
Diane has been with Kieve since 1999. She oversees food service at Kieve, serving as the supervisor at both the KLC and Pasquaney dining hall. Diane liaises with clients before their arrival at Kieve and helps them to determine their needs regarding menus and amenities. Her food has been described as phenomenal and amazing, and she has been duly praised by clients for her attentiveness. Be sure to ask about her seafood chowder.

Dean Cartier - Physical Plant Director
As Physical Plant Director, Dean is responsible for coordinating all physical preparation in advance of a client's arrival at the KLC. He is on hand to make sure that you have enough chairs and tables for your function, that our building is well-maintained, and that our lakeside hot tub is clean and ready for your enjoyment. Dean has been with Kieve since 1994.

Scott Henry - Wavus Facility Manager
Scott has been working for Kieve-Wavus since 1997. He graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in forestry. Scott's primary responsibility is to insure that the physical plant at Wavus is maintained and improved. In his limited off time Scott enjoys hunting and fishing, both locally and in Canada. He is married and has one son, John and a daughter, Josie.

Bill Chapman - Physical Plant
Bill brings a wide range of experiences and talents to Kieve. He has always had a mechanical bent, working as a maintenance mechanic in a local hospital while attending Northeastern University. He is a jack of all trades, able to handle a wide variety of projects on his own. In the past he has served as a law-enforcement officer in Washington, D.C., worked with Project Leap in Massachusetts, overseen a number of properties in Coastal Maine, and worked as a commercial fisherman for more than twenty years. He holds a Coast Guard boat license and is also a licensed Maine Guide, specializing in hunting expeditions both for upland birds and Sea Ducks.
