Kieve Gets Greener
April 20, 2005
Kieve is taking a new approach to recycling and updating their efforts. The campus and its entire staff have increased their organization to recycle tin, aluminum, plastic, cardboard, and office paper.
Bins have been placed at Pasquaney and in LDI classrooms as well as on-site residences. A local company has been contracted to pick-up Kieve's growing recycling needs. The Nobleboro Transfer Station is also a resource in the recycling of glass, mixed paper, and batteries.
Faye Benson, in the Kieve office, heads the recycling of magazines, newspapers, and print and toner cartridges. Her initiative is appreciated!
Pasquaney is also evaluating how to minimize food waste while delivering nutritional meals to our students and campers. New menus and ideas are being explored.
We are finding it takes everyone to cut down on our waste and many are excited about the continuing effort! If you have any suggestions for increasing Kieve's efficiency, please let us know. Thanks to LDI's Sarah Cawthon for helping to lead this effort!
