Leadership School Educator

Taylor Boucher
Earlham College 2015
Biology and Environmental Studies
Started working at The Leadership School: August 2015

Taylor was born and raised in Portland, Maine. She loves adventuring outside, the ocean and traveling near and far. She studied Biology and Environmental Studies at Earlham College where she found passions for many things, such as environmental justice and conservation. Although the midwest is super flat, Taylor does not mind because it makes long-distance biking much easier. Taylor is so excited to be living back in Maine and exploring her passions of experiential education at TLS this year!

Nina Byers
Hamilton College, 2016
Major: Comparative Literature. Minor: Geoscience and History.
Started at The Leadership School: August 2016

A recent graduate form Hamilton College, Nina is excited to be a member of TLS team. She majored in Comparative Literature and minored in Geoscience and History. Nina spent summers fostering her passion for the outdoors and education, be it through an environmental nonprofit, children`s museum, or leading trips through the Maine or Adirondack wilderness. Without doubt, however, Nina`s forte is in fort building-- working with the world around her to build exciting learning environments. Ever since attending summer camp 10 years ago, Nina loves all the mountains, lakes, and beaches Maine has to offer and can`t wait to teach in the places she knows and loves!

Eli Campbell
Saint Lawrence University, 2016
Sociology and Outdoor Studies

Eli graduated from Saint Lawrence University with a degree in Sociology and Outdoor Studies. He enjoys long walks on the ocean shore and all things out doors, really. For the past 5 summers Eli has loved working at Camp Kieve. A member of his school outing club, Eli has brought many peers to the great outdoors. Now, eager to expand horizons, Eli is stoked to extend the work into the fall with a great group of educators. Here we go!

Sam Copland
Bowdoin 2014
BA in Psychology and Gender & Womens Studies
Started at The Leadership School: August 2014

Sam is from Uxbridge, Massachusetts. An education minor at Bowdoin College, she is very excited to combine her passion of working with students with her love of being outdoors. Sam worked with students in various capacities during college, including tutoring at local schools in Brunswick and being a counselor at Slovenski Camps during the summers. In her free time, Sam can be found running, cooking, or hanging out with friends.

Neil Dacierno
Unity College, 2015
Started at the Leadership School: Spring 2016

Neil is from Southampton, NY and developed a love for Maine while at Unity College. He enjoys eating (a lot), surfing, fishing, and baseball. Neil is excited to be at The Leadership School to learn from both fellow staff and the students!

Noah Dines
University of Connecticut, 2016
Political Science
Started at the Leadership School: 2015

Noah graduated from UConn this past May and is eager to expand into the experiential-education world with The Leadership School.
Interested in communication on an interpersonal and global scale, Noah brings his Political Science degree, conversational french,
and 4 years of experience as a Camp Tevya counselor and department head. At Tevya, he directed the Outdoor Life and Learning department and looks forward to expanding that focus at TLS. Noah believes in the power of play and looks forward to integrating that philosophy with TLS. In his free time, he enjoys paddling and petting zoos.

Alex Drew
Colorado College, 2015
Environmental Policy
Started at the Leadership School: August 2016

Alex graduated from Colorado College in 2015 with a BA in Environmental Policy. Alex first fell in love with all things outdoors while attending summer camp in Maine, and likes to spend her free time running, skiing, climbing, and backpacking. Alex is excited to pursue experiential education at TLS this fall.

Skyler Dunfey
Wheaton College, MA - 2015
BA in Studio Art
Started at the Leadership School: 2015

Skyler is a native Mainer who loves the outdoors, creating art, and singing and playing guitar with friends. She has worked as a Wavus counselor for two summers and even attended The Leadership School in 2006 as a student. With minors in education and psychology, Skyler has a passion for experiential learning and is excited to be a part of the TLS community as an educator.

Kelsey Goodwin
Wheaton College, 2016
Started at the Leadership School: 2016

Kelsey has just graduated from Wheaton College with a degree in English. She looks forward to bringing her seven years of outdoor education experience from her beloved Camp Kiniya, where Kelsey was a cabin leader and division head. Kelsey loves being outside and her interests include camping, curling, cookie dough, and the good ole game of hoop roll - Any time.

Will Hackett
Muhlenberg College - 2010
Started at The Leadership School: August 2011

Will is a native of Belle Meade, NJ and spent six years as a camper at Kieve. During his seven years as a counselor and two as the Assistant Tripping Director for Kieve Boys Camp, Will worked with children ranging from 8 - 16 years and led several extended trips into the Maine Wilderness. He is a 2010 graduate of Muhlenberg College. Will enjoys playing and watching sports and exploring the wilderness.

Jennings Leavell
Jennings Herrera Leavell
Bowdoin College, Class of 2017
Started at the Leadership School: August 2016

Jennings is from Racine, Wisconsin and is a proud Badger and cheesehead, but has lived happily in Maine since coming to Bowdoin College in 2013. Jennings loves being active in the outdoors, but chooses skiing when he is forced to pick a favorite pastime. Jennings also loves learning and teaching all manner of things from chemistry to paddling, and looks forward to combining his passions for learning, teaching, and the outdoors at the Leadership School this fall.

Jack Marston
Jack has been kicking around Kieve since he was eight years old. He loves rock climbing, quiet days in the woods, and cold rivers on hot days. Some day, he will have a beautiful dog and a simple house, and his life will be complete.

Sam Mengual
Sam is from West Hartford, CT. While attending Hamilton College, Sam led outdoor orientation programs for incoming students in the Adirondacks. This past summer she worked for Apogee Adventures leading a service adventure trip in Puerto Rico. She is extremely passionate about plants, education, and traveling. For fun, Sam can be found running, playing cribbage, or hanging out with friends.

Mims Montgomery
University of Wisconsin - Madison
Structural Systems Engineering and Environmental Studies
Started at The Leadership School: August 2013

Mims is from Atlanta GA. She worked for Moondance Adventures for three summers in Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, and Wyoming and as a KW Trip Leader in the Pacific Northwest. At Kieve-Wavus she is a TLS Educator, co AD of the CIT Program and Assistant Tripping Director at Wavus. In her spare time, Mims interests include anything outdoors, reading, and photography.

David Munger
Hamilton College, 2016
Started at the Leadership School: August 2016

As a recent graduate of Hamilton College, Dave is excited to join The Leadership School so that he can continue learning and growing in the world of experiential education. After growing up as a Colorado native, he came East to see more of the country and is very excited to have found a new home in Maine. In his free time, Dave can be found rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, or making homemade guacamole. This season, he is looking forward to learning about the things that students are passionate about, and introducing them to new perspectives.

Kelci O\'Neill

Secondary Education - Biology, Minor in Environmental Studies
Started at Kieve: August 2015

Kelci is from Freeport, ME, and went to The Leadership School in middle school herself! She enjoys being outside and working with nature (especially if said nature is turtles; she is obsessed). Kelci also enjoys teaching, which is something that she would like to do for the rest of her life. She would also like to learn how to scuba dive and surf, as she loves spending time in the ocean. She hopes that Kieve will allow her to grow as a person, and as an educator.

Tyler Pace
Connecticut College - 2007
Started at the Leadership School: 2010

After Tyler graduated from Connecticut College in 2007, he spent a year working as a Student Services Assistant at the Umbra Institute in Perugia, Italy. He then spent some time back home in Kentucky before heading to graduate school in Boston. Tyler joined the Leadership School as an Educator in 2010. He is veteran Kieve camper, counselor, KW West Trip Leader, co AD of the CIT program, and Assistant Wilderness Tripping Director for Boys Summer Camp. Tyler has his Wilderness First Responder and CPR certifications and is a Certified Maine Guide. In his spare time, Tyler loves to play Ultimate Frisbee, make friends with dogs, read Dante and Wendell Berry and listen to all kinds of Bluegrass music.

Macenzie Peters
Hobart & William Smith Colleges; 2015

Started at Leadership School Spring 2015

Mac was introduced to the Leadership School while working as a counselor at the Wavus Camp for Girls. During college she spent a Semester abroad in Ecuador and Peru and well as doing her internship in Outdoor Education in Alaska. We are please to have her bring her outdoor and youth mentoring experience to the Leadership School.

Cole Phillips

Started at The Leadership School August 2015

Cole currently lives in Vermont and will be spending some time in Montana this winter to ski and live with some friends from college. Cole loves the outdoors and everything they have to offer every season be it fly fishing, skiing, canoe tripping, some more fly fishing, and then a lot more fly fishing after all that. Cole can not even begin to explain how stoked he is to be at Kieve, a place that has transformed him as a person, for the fall and spring seasons. It will be an awesome time here at the Leadership School.

Jessica Richter
Seattle University, 2014: History and French
McGill University: MA in History

Jessica was born in Montreal, but grew up in Colorado. It was in the Rockies that she fell in love with hiking, camping, skiing and snowboarding. At Seattle U, she led school leadership retreats and excursions in the Cascades, then worked as a TA at McGill. She also enjoys reading, singing, and spontaneous traveling.

Chris is from Dunbarton, NH and started at Kieve as a camper in 2007 and on staff in 2013. He is excited to add The Leadership School to his repertoire as a new experience with Kieve. Chris always looking forward to learning new things from both his peers and his students.

Katrina Smith

Katrina grew up in coastal Maine, and attended the Leadership School as a student in middle school. She loves animals, crafting, and exploring new places. Katrina is excited to be a part of the Leadership School and looks forward to meeting new students and working with great staff!

Brian Sperry

Brian is from WestPoint, UT. He grew up with a love and respect for the outdoors and has always loved hiking and backpacking. Brian has a passion for learning and teaching, loves reading, and is ecstatic about becoming a part of the teaching team at The Leadership School.

Ben Swanson
Gettysburg College, 2013

Started at The Leadership School: August 2013

Ben was a camper at Kieve for 10 years, a counselor for five years, and is currently an Assistant Wilderness Tripping Director during the summer months. While at Gettysburg College he worked for the Gettysburg Recreation and Activities Board leading outing trips and Experiential Education exercises. He loves working at The Leadership School at Kieve - his second home.

Kasie Taylor

Started at Leadership School Spring 2016

Kasie has an extensive background with both the outdoors, thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail, and also working with children. She is excited to be working and gaining more skills at the Leadership School with a goal of one day working with Veterans in a wilderness therapy environment.

Zamir Twiggs
Unity College
BA Environmental Studies and Humanities
Started at the Leadership School, March 2016

After graduation from Unity College, Zamir worked with children in animals in both zoos and museums settings. He loves watching the sense of discovery kids get during informal education. His favorite pass times include writing, reading, hiking, traveling, fencing, archery and tabletop games. We are pleased to welcome him to the Leadership School.

Tim York
University of Maine at Farmington, 2016
Started at The Leadership School: August 2016

Tim is a recent graduate from University of Maine, Farmington where he designed his own degree in Earth Science. An interdisciplinary major, Tim pursued his love of science and the outdoors. Creating his own degree, Tim focused on understanding how the world adapts and changes over time. Along the way, Tim found himself working for Camp Kieve in summer and the for TLS, as its education program combines his passions. As an Educator, Tim strives to bring positivity, creativity, and the fun back to learning.
