Kate Adair

Started at Leadership School August 2011
Kate is from Rochester, New York and a graduate of Gettysburg College where she was also on the Cross Country and Track teams. She has spent two summers as a counselor at the Wavus Camp for Girls and we are pleased to welcome her to The Leadership School. Her hobbies include running, hiking, swimming and hosting Survivor: Wavus Island.

Leah Agren

Leah grew up in Maine and feels most at home in the outdoors. She spent three years as a counselor at Wavus and loves travel, adventure and having fun! Leah spends winters at Sugarloaf as a ski instructor for 8-14 year olds, and in the summer enjoys being outside doing things like rafting, skydiving and kayaking.

Cliff Blackman

A native of neighboring town Waldoboro, Cliff graduated from Southern New Hampshire University in May 2010 with a bachelor’s in International Business. Immediately following graduation, Cliff began his tenure as an intern for the Leadership School and stayed on during the summer working maintenance. Cliff enjoys many sports (basketball in particular) and outdoor activities (specifically rock climbing, fishing, and white water rafting).

Shem Dixon

Started at The Leadership School: August 2011
Shem graduated from Bowdoin College in 2011 with a degree in Biology. Shem was born in Maine, and spent some time "away," before eventually returning to spend his formative years exploring the mountains, woods, and streams of Maine. His interests include, but are certainly not limited to: reading, eating, sleeping (but not too much), learning new things from new people, and exploring the great outdoors by any means available (bike, boat, ski, feet...). Shem spent his summer leading biking trips for young adults, and after having had an amazing time, he is excited to continue working with young adults at the Leadership School this fall.

Lauren Duncan

Lauren is a native Mainer and is quite excited to be back in Maine after four years in New York, Spain and Wisconsin. For the past two summers, Lauren traveled to Boulder Junction, Wisconsin to direct a wilderness expedition program and run an equipment room at Camp Manito-wish. She loves being in the outdoors and experientially working with groups on ropes courses and in the wilderness. When Lauren is outside, she loves to hike, snowshoe, and climb rock, ice, and trees. Lauren is also passionate about making sculptures and baking.

Carolyn "Griff" Griffiths

Carolyn graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine in Spring 2010 with a degree in Politics. She has experience leading hiking trips for the junior high in her hometown, Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, and spent four summers teaching at a Boy Scout camp. During his past summer, "Griff" led our first Maine Trails trip at Wavus. She loves doing anything in the outdoors including hiking, snowboarding and rock climbing. Throughout college she raced on the Bates sailing team. Other interests include traveling, reading and cooking.

Will Hackett

Will is an native of Belle Meade, NJ and spent six years as a camper at Kieve. During his five years as a counselor for Kieve Boys Camp, Will worked with children ranging from 8 - 16 years and led several extended trips into the Maine Wilderness. He is a 2010 graduate of Muhlenberg College. Will loves watching and playing sports, especially football and getting out into the Maine Woods.

Hallie Herz

Hallie first came to Kieve as a kiddie camper at age 6, and is happy to be back! She grew up five miles from Kieve and graduated from Bates College in May with a degree in American Cultural Studies. In the summers, Hallie leads wilderness whitewater canoeing trips for Camp Wanapitei in Temagami, Ontario. In her free time, she enjoys creative writing, whitewater canoeing, singing, and hiking.

Nick Jump

Nick graduated from Texas State University in December of 2009 with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. For the first five months after graduation, he worked as a substitute teacher in the San Marcos Independent School District. When the school year finished, Nick started looking for a way to merge his love of the outdoors with his passion for teaching and making a difference in kids’ lives, and found Kieve as the answer. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing, swimming, movies, skiing, and listening to music around a fire.

A graduate in 2007 from the University of New Hampshire with a B.S. in Nutritional Science, Paul has personal trainer certification through the ISSA that he completed during his senior year of college. After graduating he moved to Montana for a year and managed a gym in Bozeman, MT. Paul enjoys playing sports, traveling, and hiking.

After graduating college in 2006, Kerry traveled to Australia and discovered the wonderful world of experiential education! In the three years that followed she led a variety of different age groups through adventure education programs and character development curriculums. She is very excited to be working at Kieve and hopes she can share her passion for life long learning with the students.

Tyler Pace

Started with The Leadership School August 2010
After Tyler graduated from Connecticut College in 2007, he spent a year working as a Student Services Assistant at the Umbra Institute in Perugia, Italy. He then spent some time back home in Kentucky before heading to graduate school in Boston. A veteran Kieve camper and counselor, we are pleased to welcome Tyler back to Maine and The Leadership School. In his spare time, Tyler loves to play Ultimate Frisbee, make friends with dogs, read Dante and Wendell Berry and listen to all kinds of Bluegrass music.

Ryan Pelletier

Ryan joined The Leadership School staff in the spring of 2010 as an intern and started as a Teacher in the Fall of 2010. During the summers, he is one of the Environmental Educators on Hog Island, a neaby Audubon Nature Reserve. A native of Maine, Ryan has a great love for the outdoors and for working with young people.

Will joined the Leadership School as an intern in August of 2010 and spent his summer working with the boys of the summer camp. He graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2008 and is excited to continue with the Leadership School as a teacher this fall. Will is a native of North Carolina and enjoys spending time outdoors where ever he is.

Carly grew up in nearby Jefferson and loved every minute of it. She attended Wavus as a young girl and returned as a Counselor in 2011. During the summers she enjoys kayaking, hiking, and spending time at the ocean. In the winter she instructs children how to snowboard at Sugarloaf. We are pleased to have her join the us at The Leadership School.

Julie is from Wells, Maine and has spent two summers at Wavus, most recently as the Assistant Director for the Junior Wavus program. While at the University of Maine she played on the Women’s Soccer team and then coached high school soccer in southern Maine. She is eager to join the Leadership School team and is inspired by the Experiential model.

Roscoe grew up in and around the Boston area and was a camper at Kieve for six years as well as a counselor in 2007. A graduate of Stanford University, Roscoe looks forward to returning to Maine and The Leadership School. In his spare tiem, Roscoe enjoys spending time wrestling, eating, hiking, and reading fantasy novels.
